You can get started as soon as you find out you’re pregnant. However, starting in the second trimester is ideal so you have time to learn and practice skills during pregnancy, without starting too early where you may forget them. One pelvic health treatment session may be saved for closer to delivery (around 35-38 weeks) to address any imbalances or restrictions in the pelvis or uterus right before birth, while also reviewing specific techniques that may be useful for you during delivery.
-
Your pelvic floor therapist may recommend further pelvic floor therapy treatment if there are more extensive issues that need to be addressed with physical therapy. The visits can be added to your package at the most discounted rate for follow-up visits.

Pilates is an effective exercise system for addressing many of the components of a healthy pregnant body. Pilates exercises improve posture and alignment, core and pelvic floor strength, breath control, and are low impact. With emphasis on neutral joint positions, the exercises are gentle and they effectively improve joint stability, where ligamentous laxity can be a primary source of pain and dysfunction during pregnancy. Read this blog post to learn more about the many benefits of Pilates during pregnancy.
